Photos of “Epilogue” scene from Deathly Hallows on the web

Today has brought some bittersweet news to all Harry Potter fans, for rumors of filming for the final scene of Deathly Hallows has been confirmed with the release of several photos across the internet. I have seen one actual photo, but have decided that I will not view the rest of the photos because I would like to experience those final moments at the theater. So, for the sake of my Potter sanity (and for a certain Fancy Fembot, who is currently reading “Order of the Phoenix” and whom I don’t want to spoil), I will just link you folks who want to peek to the photos here, here, and here over at the Snitchseeker website.

It was announced months ago that filming of the epilogue would close out filming of the franchise, so these photos are a sign that we are truly approaching the end of a magical era. In the words of my favorite Weasley, “can we panic now?”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow is scheduled for release on November 19, 2010 (Part I) and July 15, 2011 (Part II).

A third and final trailer has been released for M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender”, which is scheduled for a summer release of July 2. The new trailer is available from iTunes at this link ; you can also find all previously released promos for the movie on iTunes.

I’m not a big fan of the series (I watch it when it’s on, but haven’t had a chance to really get into it), but I must say, I’m very excited to see this movie. This trailer gives a glimpse of the special effects that will be featured, and IT. LOOKS. AWESOME. Oh, and yes, it will be in 3-D. I already know that IMAX will be getting my money for this one.

Yes folks, we have a full-length trailer for Eclispe now, courtesy of Oprah’s website. And all I’m saying right now is “OH SH*T!!”

This trailer looks good, and looks like the action scenes will be intense.

Recently, Magic Box Music confirmed on their website that they were working on the trailer music for both of the Deathly Hallows movies. Next to the post, this movie poster image was shown, with Harry holding onto the Golden Snitch in what looks like the scene where he walks to his “death”.

If this is indeed an official poster, maybe it signifies that we should be receiving more promotional images soon (a fangirl can only hope!).

Tired of your favorite movies and actors constantly getting overlooked for awards and recognition? Well, here’s your chance to have your say!! MTV has opened up voting for the nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, which will be broadcast on Sunday, June 6 at 9pm. The voting can be found here, and will close on April 9th, so hurry over and cast your votes! Side Note: You must be registered at MTV.com in order to vote.

And for a personal Grown-Up Fangirl mention, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is nominated in five of the categories:

  • Best Movie
  • Global Superstar (Dan Radcliffe)
  • Best Male Performance (Dan Radcliffe)
  • Best Female Performance (Emma Watson)
  • Best Villain (Tom Felton)

While I am quite disappointed that Rupert Grint didn’t get recognized, yet again, for his comical and brilliant performance in this film, I am glad to see so many nominations for the film itself. Good luck to them all!

Maleficent Coming to Theaters?

It is being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that with the success of Alice in Wonderland, director Tim Burton may have set his sights on his next project. Looks like Maleficent, the evil Queen from Sleeping Beauty, will now be brought to life. Rumors are that the screenwriter for Alice, Linda Woolverton, would pen the script for Maleficent, which would tell the tale of Sleeping Beauty from the Queen’s evil point-of-view. At this point it is only rumor, but as a fan of Burton’s and of practically anything made by Disney, Maleficent is a live-action project that really excites me.

Summit Entertainment has released the latest poster for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, due in theaters on June 30. Personally, the poster itself is not exciting for me; but I’m sure there will be more images soon. Since we are only a few months away from the release, I’m sure the promotions are about to kick off in high gear.

Atlanta New Moon DVD release party: pics, video and details!!

Tonight, my daughters and I attended the DVD release party for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and we were not disappointed. The event was hosted by STAR 94 radio, and DJ Spoon was our Master of Ceremonies. The evening consisted of fun Twilight and STAR 94 trivia, and included several giveaways: stand up posters of Edward, Bella, Jacob and the trio; a Twilight Scene-It game, mini calendars, and STAR 94 gift items. At 11:30, Chaske Spencer and Tyson Houseman (who play Sam Uley and Quil Ateara, respectively) were ushered onstage for a Q&A session that was fun to witness.

Everyone who purchased the DVD at midnight got their copy signed by Chaske and Tyson; both of my daughters were also fortunate enough to have a copy of the books signed as well. Somehow, the store managers were allowing people who had purchased the videos to come back through the line for another autograph, and they ended up giving my oldest daughter another signed DVD. For free. Those two girls sure do come in handy sometimes. :)  Chaske and Tyson were also very gracious enough to let my daughter snap a photo of them, even though the managers said that no photos were allowed at the signing desk (luckily, he didn’t say this until after she had snapped the photo.

Side Note: Chaske Spencer is FINE. AS. HELL. And he’s my age, so I don’t feel as bad saying that as I do when I say the same thing about Taylor Lautner, who is half my age. I’m just sayin…

On the Summit Entertainment twitter page, there is a listing of all of the release parties that Blockbuster is hosting, along with some of the stars from the movie. Atlanta residents will have a party, sponsored by STAR 94 radio, at the Brookhaven Blockbuster. Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley) and Tyson Houseman (Quil Ateara) are scheduled to appear.  Party begins at 10pm.

A 10-second preview of the new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer is here, one day before the first official trailer will be released (at 6:00am tomorrow morning). I must say, since Eclipse was one of my favorites in the book series, that I am eagerly anticipating the love-triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob, and am hoping that this movie delivers it in the right way.

Ok people, here is your time to weigh in. As much as I love movies, I don’t get to the theaters nearly as much as I want to, and I realize that I have missed some gems. At the same time, I also realize that there are some others that are not as widely known or popular, but that are well liked anyway; for example, I know that it would never have received an Academy Award, but I absolutely love the campiness of Starship Troopers :)

So here’s the deal: I want to know what movies are your favorites, so I can start up my own “Movie to See Before I Die” list. It can be anything: classic, sci-fi, Disney, whatever. But I will make this disclaimer: I don’t do a lot of slasher/horror flicks.

So you will probably begin to get sick of me now since we are less than a month from the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”, but I’m hoping it will be worth it.

There’s been lots of HP-related news lately, and it would take way too long to post everything, but what I will post is an extended clip of the “Tom Riddle Orphanage” scene, which previously debuted at the MTV Movie Awards a few weeks ago.

LAFAYETTE IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was so desperately hoping that they found a way to keep him on the show, considering that his character died in the books. This is one bit of "deviation from the plan" that I am all in favor for!!! And according to Mr. Tip-Yo-Waitress himself, we may have him for Season 3 as well!  See this article for more on what’s to come for Lafayette.

Hi guys, it’s Hanako, the Potter Geek returning to Black Geekdom after a long absence (caused in large part to Warner Bros. decision to postpone the release of Half-Blood Prince to this summer). But anyhoo! Now that the release is less than 4 months away and Deathly Hallows has begun filming, it’s time to update you all on what’s going on in the Potterverse. (Warning: this post will contain casting information and potential movie spoilers).

Finally! We are getting closer to the long-awaited release of Half-Blood Prince, which will open in theaters and IMAX on July 17, 2009. Recently, the Japanese International trailer was released, and it can be viewed here.

Deathly Hallows
Release dates:
Part 1 – November 19, 2010
Part 2 – July 15, 2011

Casting News: Recently, the casting of several key characters have been confirmed, suggesting that Warner Bros. will try with the final two movies to make up for the mistakes/omissions they made in the first 5 (or 6, depending on how HBP turns out). DH see the return of Dobby the House-Elf, along with Mr. Ollivander and (possibly) Fleur Delacour. Other casting notables include Bill Weasley (finally!), Mundungus Fletcher, Xenophilius Lovegood, Aberforth Dumbledore, and Reg Cattermole, among others.

With the casting news has come confirmations of several key scenes being filmed, including the much-debated Epilogue, Malfoy Manor, Shell Cottage, and possibly the Bill/Fleur wedding.

With the casting of these characters with small yet significant roles, as well as some of the key scenes that made DH the best book in the series (in my humble opinion, of course), it seems as though WB will use the two-movie arc to fully play out the final chapter in Harry’s story, which is as it should be.
