Day full of Eclipse goodies

There’s a lot of activity going on today in the world of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. First off, as a HUGE Robert Pattinson fan (every since he portrayed Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), I wanted to wish him a very happy birthday!!

Next, a reminder that today’s Oprah Show will focus on the movie, with stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning. The Oprah Show airs at 4:00pm EST.

Last, but definitely not least, a new clip from the movie has been released at the Apple Trailers website. The new clip features members of the Volturi witnessing Victoria’s newborn vampires cause destruction in the city, and they discuss the possible consequences of those actions.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is due in theaters June 30. Tickets will be available for advance purchase tomorrow on Fandango.

Yes folks, we have a full-length trailer for Eclispe now, courtesy of Oprah’s website. And all I’m saying right now is “OH SH*T!!”

This trailer looks good, and looks like the action scenes will be intense.

Stephenie Meyer announces new Twilight-inspired novella

Stephenie Meyer made a surprise announcement via her official website this morning: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, which chronicles the last human days and first “newborn” days of Bree (Jane’s unfortunate victim in Eclipse), will be published this summer. The book  - which was originally written as background information for the author, never to be released – will be available to the public for free on it’s own official website, www.breetanner.com between June 7th and July 5th. (You can pre-order the book from Amazon). It will then be made available for purchase in a hardcover edition, with a retail price of $13.99. $1.00 for each book sold will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. Summit Entertainment has released the latest poster for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, due in theaters on June 30. Personally, the poster itself is not exciting for me; but I’m sure there will be more images soon. Since we are only a few months away from the release, I’m sure the promotions are about to kick off in high gear.

So take a look, and decide for yourself. Are you ready for Eclipse?

Atlanta New Moon DVD release party: pics, video and details!!

Tonight, my daughters and I attended the DVD release party for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and we were not disappointed. The event was hosted by STAR 94 radio, and DJ Spoon was our Master of Ceremonies. The evening consisted of fun Twilight and STAR 94 trivia, and included several giveaways: stand up posters of Edward, Bella, Jacob and the trio; a Twilight Scene-It game, mini calendars, and STAR 94 gift items. At 11:30, Chaske Spencer and Tyson Houseman (who play Sam Uley and Quil Ateara, respectively) were ushered onstage for a Q&A session that was fun to witness.

Everyone who purchased the DVD at midnight got their copy signed by Chaske and Tyson; both of my daughters were also fortunate enough to have a copy of the books signed as well. Somehow, the store managers were allowing people who had purchased the videos to come back through the line for another autograph, and they ended up giving my oldest daughter another signed DVD. For free. Those two girls sure do come in handy sometimes. :)  Chaske and Tyson were also very gracious enough to let my daughter snap a photo of them, even though the managers said that no photos were allowed at the signing desk (luckily, he didn’t say this until after she had snapped the photo.

And a reminder: Chaske Spencer will be back in Atlanta this Labor Day weekend, attending his first DragonCon.

Side Note: Chaske Spencer is FINE. AS. HELL. And he’s my age, so I don’t feel as bad saying that as I do when I say the same thing about Taylor Lautner, who is half my age. I’m just sayin…

On the Summit Entertainment twitter page, there is a listing of all of the release parties that Blockbuster is hosting, along with some of the stars from the movie. Atlanta residents will have a party, sponsored by STAR 94 radio, at the Brookhaven Blockbuster. Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley) and Tyson Houseman (Quil Ateara) are scheduled to appear.  Party begins at 10pm.

A 10-second preview of the new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer is here, one day before the first official trailer will be released (at 6:00am tomorrow morning). I must say, since Eclipse was one of my favorites in the book series, that I am eagerly anticipating the love-triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob, and am hoping that this movie delivers it in the right way.

Twilight Convention this weekend in Atlanta

Twilighters in the Atlanta area will have a chance to meet some of the stars from the hit movie series “Twilight” this weekend at the Official Twilight Convention, presented by Creation Entertainment. The convention is at the Westin Buckhead and begins today, March 5 and will run through Sunday, March 7.

Stars scheduled to appear are as follows:

Peter Fachinelli (Carlisle Cullen) – Friday only
Gil Birmingham (Billy Black) – Saturday and Sunday
Kiowa Gordon (Embry Call) – Sunday only
Daniel Cudmore (The Volturi’s Felix) – Saturday only
Christopher Heterdahl (The Volturi’s Marcus) – Saturday only
Michael Welch (Mike Newton) – Saturday only
Tinsel Korey (Emily) – Sunday only

Ticket prices vary between $25 per day for general admission to $73 weekend (general admission); however, Creation’s website has a discount coupon good for $15 off any one day’s general admission, and includes a complimentary autographed Twilight photo for the first 500 people.

The Grown-Up Fangirl is squealing with delight today, for it has just been announced that several members of The Twilight Saga: New Moon are confirmed for Dragon*Con!

Daniel Cudmore, who played Volturi member Felix (and is also known as the X-Men Trilogy’s Colossus) has been confirmed, along with Wolf Pack members Alex Meraz (Paul) and Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley). They will join fellow castmates Kellan Lutz (Emmett) and Ashley Greene (Alice), who were confirmed late last year.

Dragon*Con takes place every Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, GA. Details – including guests and prices – can be found on the Dragon*Con website at www.dragoncon.org .
