“Twilight” stars back out of DragonCon

While browsing the official Dragon*Con website today, I noticed that previously confirmed guest Kellan Lutz (Emmett) has been removed from the guest list, due to “professional commitments”. This is a double whammy for Twi-hards, since Ashley Greene (Alice) was removed a few weeks ago for the same reasons. As of today, Chaske Spencer (Sam), Alex Meraz (Paul) and Daniel Cudmore (Felix) remain on the guest list.

Potter Stars Confirmed to Attend Next Week’s Opening of Theme Park

In news that has me crying like a baby this morning (since I can’t be there), Snitchseeker.com has reported that Harry Potter stars Dan Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have been confirmed to attend next Friday’s opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The two join previously confirmed stars James & Oliver Phelps, Bonnie Wright, and Tom Felton; there have also been rumors that J.K. Rowling herself will attend the opening, although I don’t think it has been officially announced or confirmed anywhere on the internet.

Summit Entertainment Announces “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn to be Released BE as Two Separate Films

In news that was not unexpected in Twilight fandom, Summit Entertainment confirmed the long-circulated rumor that the fourth installment in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, would indeed be split into two parts. Here is the information from The Twilight Saga fan page on Facebook:

Los Angeles, CA, June 10, 2010 – Summit Entertainment confirmed today that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.

The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing. The TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will start production in the Fall.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

The third film in the franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is due in theaters on June 30, 2010.

I will be quite honest here: I’m not quite looking forward to the cinematic version of Breaking Dawn. While I enjoyed the novel at first, after another re-reading of it, I found the book severely lacking in lots of ways, and overall felt disappointed by the ending. As a Twilight fan, I will definitely go see the movies, but I am reserving any and all thoughts on this movie until promotion begins, and I can get a feel for what’s being done with it. I will say that Melissa Rosenberg and Bill Condon have got their work cut out for them, and I hope they can make the movie make more sense than the book.

New clip from “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”

A new clip from the upcoming Eclipse movie, the third installment in The Twilight Saga series has been found on the web. Mr. Edward Cullen himself (Robert Pattinson) sets up the clip, which features a Cullen family discussion on protecting Bella from whatever forces are stalking her out.

Also, according to Alex Meraz (Paul) via Twitter, Access Hollywood will premiere another clip tonight at 7:30pm EST. I’ll post the clip as soon as it’s available online.

New “Eclipse” TV spots and “Introducing Bree Tanner” video (Updated)

At the end of March, I posted the news that Stephenie Meyer was planning to release a “mini-novel” on the life of Bree Tanner, one of the newborns vampires that Victoria creates for her army in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Now, Summit Entertainment has released a short video “featurette” introducing us to the character.

In addition, there are two new TV spots for the movie, which opens on June 30.

“Something New”

“Missing”

In honor of Bea, Estelle, and now, Rue

Rue McClanahan, who is best known for her role as the fiesty, optimistic (and perpetually horny) Blanche Devereaux on the popular 80′s series “Golden Girls” has died. PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that she suffered a massive stroke early this morning and died at the age of 76. Fellow “GG” stars Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur passed away in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

“Golden Girls” was a huge part of my “coming of age” years, as my roomie Keisha and I would always sit down together to watch this show, without fail, every single night. It was a fun part of my day, being able to watch these old “biddies” bicker and tease – and most of all – love and support each other.

Here’s a great clip that I found on YouTube, that I think everyone would enjoy watching to remember these very funny women.
