This evening Walter Koenig, former star of the original Star Trek series, confirmed that a body found earlier today in Vancouver’s Stanley Park was that of his son, Andrew. Andrew Koenig was last seen on Valentine’s Day, weeks after he began selling and then giving away all of his belongings in what seemed to be a well-planned goodbye. His father, who was among the searches who discovered his son’s body, confirmed in a press conference held earlier this evening that Andrew had indeed taken his own life. It was the sad end to a longtime battle with depression.
Andrew Koenig was probably best known to many people as “Boner” in the 80s sitcom Growing Pains. He was also a director, producer, writer and activist. He was 41 years old.
